Gambling Laws Continue to Divide the European Union

Once again individual nation's gambling restrictions are creating problems for the European Union; this time it's Greece and the Netherlands that are at the heart of the issue. Last Thursday the EU issued "reasoned opinions" against both countries, the official second step in an ongoing dispute between the countries and foreign operators interested in competing for their online gambling markets. Once the "reasoned opinions" have been filed, the countries in question have a two month period to respond, reply, or adjust their practices. This response from the suspect countries is just the third step in a complicated and ongoing bureaucratic tango that is used to solve issues in the European Union.
