WASSUP '09: Hawrilenko Wins Last Bracelet Before The Main Event
July 3, 2021

Event #56- the $5,000 buy-in Six Handed No-Limit Hold 'em was the last preliminary event of this year's World Series of Poker and as if to make a statement on the pros chances in the upcoming Main Event, it was taken down by a professional despite a starting field of 928 players.

The pro that did it, Matthew Hawrilenko, already had four previous cashes during this year's series including a fifth place cash in Event #33 for $100,688; a pretty good score that easily paled in comparison to this win and the $1,003,218 first place prize.

To earn the W and his first WSOP gold bracelet, Matt "Hoss_TBF" Hawrilenko, had to survive a field littered with professionals including many who made it all the way into the top 100 like Blair Hinkle (23rd), Bill Edler (38th), Juha Helppi (82nd), Sorel Mizzi (54th), Justin Bonomo (63rd) and Phil Hellmuth, who finally bowed out in 24th place, his fifth cash in this year's Series and third in the final 25.

The final table finish positions for Event #56- the Six Handed No-Limit Hold 'em, were as follows:

1st.  Matthew Hawrilenko- $1,003,218

2nd.  Joshua Brikis- $619,608

3rd.  Faraz Jaka- $400,525

4th.  Sean Keeton- $269,983

5th.  Jonas Wexler- $189,393

6th.  Matthew Waxman- $138,393
