The Main Event: Day 6, Moon Glows, Ivey Grows, Sebok Survives By A Nose
July 14, 2021

Day 6 of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event was a tense battle that saw the elimination of another 120 tough competitors.  It was a day that spelled the end to past WSOP, WPT and EPT champions as well as feared pros from both the live and online worlds.

Just some of the pros who met their demise during Day 6 include Joe Hachem, J.C. Tran, Peter Eastgate, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Jamin Stokes, Bob Lauria, Jordan Morgan, John Monnette, Joe Serock, Nasr El Nasr, Blair Hinkle, Theo Tran, Eric Cloutier, Noah Boeken, Kenny Tran, Matt Affleck, David Benyamine and Nichoel Peppe.

With the elimination of Ms. Peppe only Leo Margets now remains to carry the torch for the ladies, the official last women standing in the 2009 WSOP Main Event.

Joining Margets for Day 7 are still many notable and feared pros like Phil Ivey (6,345,000), Dennis Phillips (2,305,000), Prahlad Friedman (840,000), Antonio Esfandiari (5,610,000), Jeff Shulman (4,745,000), Blair Rodman (2,130,000), Tom Schneider (2,895,000) and PokerRoad's Joe Sebok, who despite spending much of the day as a severe short stack, was able to fight his way back into contention and end the day with 1,000,000 in tournament chips.

As impressive as Joe has been during the last six days of Event #57, he still has a long way to go before reaching the heights of current chip leader Darvin Moon (9,745,000), but with only 64 players left and everyone at this point guaranteed at least $90,344, it seems anything's still possible for our man Seebs.
