Tomorrow's Champions Cup Invitational To Continue New WSOP Season
August 3, 2021

ESPN, "the worldwide leader in sports," will air the second new 2009 episode of the World Series of Poker tomorrow highlighting the WSOP Champions Cup Invitational, a new event which features a final table full of well known players, thanks in no small part to the exclusive criteria needed to play; to compete in the Champions Cup a player must have won a WSOP Main Event.

Tomorrow's episode will feature among others Dan Harrington, Doyle Brunson, Tom McEvoy, Carlos Mortensen and NBC National Heads-Up Champion Huck Seed, each competing for a first place which guarantees a new car, the Champions Cup and substantial bragging rights, as the winner is to be known as "the Champion of Champions."

This second episode follows last week's premiere which showcased the $40,000 buy-in WSOP 40th Anniversary event (Event #2).  That event had a first prize worth nearly $2 million and a final table that held Isaac Haxton, Vitaly Lunkin, Ted Forrest, Greg Raymer and PokerRoad's Justin Bonomo.  Despite the impressive players involved in the first show, the ESPN WSOP premiere episode suffered an overall ratings slip of 4% compared to last year, according to a recent article in Poker News Daily.

Tomorrow's (8/4/09) episode is set to air on ESPN at 8 p.m. EST, for more information visit www.espn.go.com.
