Teams Shaping Up For Inaugural Caesars Cup
August 18, 2021

With this year's World Series Of Poker Europe about a month away, team details for the inaugural Caesars Cup have begun to emerge.

The all new Caesars Cup, a made for TV team event set to take place during the WSOP Europe festivities, aims to set some of the best players in Europe against some of the best players in North America in a series of No-Limit Hold 'em matches of varying types, to discover which continent dominates the world in poker.

The team captains of the event have been decided and each has announced the first four players of their eight person squads.

PokerRoad's Daniel Negreanu, helms the Americas team and has thus far picked good friends Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth and WSOP Europe Main Event champion John Juanda, to defend North America's honor.

Fellow WSOP Europe Main Event champion Annette Obrestad Captains the European team, which thanks to her leadership so far includes Dario Minieri, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and current WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate; all relatively young choices that thus far make the Caesars Cup seem more like a battle of old school vs. new, than the originally envisioned continental clash similar to golf's Ryders Cup.

Once the last eight players have been decided- this year including one online qualifier from WSOP Europe sponsor betfair.com- the inaugural Caesars Cup battle will commence September 25th, in London.
