Kyiv Day 2: They're Dropping Like Flies
August 21, 2021

Day 2 of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Kyiv Sports Poker Championship began Thursday, with 203 remaining players and close to a dozen well known established pros still in the mix.  By the end of the intensely fast paced day, only 68 of those players remained, and most of the big names in the field had been sent packing- long before any money was even close to being handed out.

Some of the pros eliminated during the pivotal Day 2 in Kyiv included Shaun Deeb, Katja Thater, Alexander Kravchenko, Faraz Jaka, Vitaly Lunkin and 2008 WSOP Main Event runner-up Ivan Demidov.

With so few left in the field as Day 3 starts today, it's becoming very difficult to find familiar faces still at the tables, however if one looks carefully they can still find one or two, including Arnaud Mattern, Lika Gerasimova and tournament circuit regular "Miami" John Cernuto.

Only 28 more players need to be eliminated before the battered and weary survivors of the Kyiv Sports Poker Championship can finally begin getting paid, and given the speed of Day 2's eliminations, it seems clear that those last 28 should fall fairly quickly.  To get updates as they go, or to read more about all the Day 2 action, visit www.pokerstarsblog.com.
