Lykov "Maxim"izes Profit At EPT Kyiv

Maxim "Decay" Lykov, the Day 2 chip leader (and for that matter the Day 3 and Day 4 chip leader as well) of the European Poker Tour Kyiv Sports Poker Championship, claimed his first EPT victory over the weekend, earning a top prize worth EUR330,000 (around $470,000 USD).

"Decay" outlasted 296 players including top pros like Ivan Demidov, Shaun Deeb and Gus Hansen, to secure the Sports Poker Championship title and in so doing also became the first Russian player ever to win a major EPT event. 

The win was the young pro's largest live tournament cash, outshining a third place- $145,062 score, he earned earlier in the summer during the $5,000 No-Limit Hold 'em Shootout event at the World Series of Poker.

The final table finish positions for the 2009 EPT Season 6, Kyiv main event, were as follows:

1st.  Maxim Lykov- EUR330,000

2nd.  Alexander Dovzhenko- EUR220,000

?3rd.  Vitaly Tolonnikov- EUR140,000

?4th.  Arthur Simonyan- EUR100,000

5th.  Lucasz Plichta- EUR80,000

6th.  Adrian Schaap- EUR60,000?

7th.  Torsten Tent- EUR45,000

8th.  Vadim Markushevski- EUR30,000
