Legends Day 3 Drops Daniel, Dwyte and A Deceptively Dominating Devo
August 25, 2021

Day 3 of the World Poker Tour's Legends of Poker main event, at the Bicycle Casino, spelled the end to another 50 competitors, all of whom will now have to wait until 2010 for their next opportunity to grab the same prestigious title already held by such epic players as Doyle Brunson, John Phan and Dan Harrington.

Many well established pros were among the 50 players eliminated yesterday including, Dwyte Pilgrim, Lee Markholt, Greg "FBT" Mueller, Scotty Nguyen, Thuy Doan, Adam "Roothlus" Levy, Nick Schulman and Daniel Negreanu, who was sadly taken out fairly early on in the day by fellow PokerRoader, Bryan "Devo" Devonshire.

Negreanu was just one of many players personally eliminated by Devonshire, as he quickly went from fifth in chips at the start of the day- with about 230,000, to the dominating chip leader of the event- with close to 800,000, before everything went seemingly, suddenly, shockingly wrong, for the highly popular PokerRoad Radio B-Team host.

Devo still held his chip lead when the 28th place money bubble burst all over Men "The Master" Nguyen, but was eliminated just two spots later, first doubling up Matt Marafioti, and then finding himself on the losing end of a flopped flush vs. flopped higher flush situation with Todd Terry, in what would become not only the biggest pot of the night, but also the last one Devonshire would see.

Although many were shocked and disappointed to see "Devo" depart, there are still quite a few players of interest to watch as the Legends of Poker heads towards its inevitable conclusion including two, 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event Final Tablists, Kevin Schaffel and Steven Begleiter

Amazingly, not only are both of these players still in the hunt for the Legends of Poker title, they're currently second and third in chips respectively, making the chance of two WSOP "November Niners" at the televised WPT final table, suddenly a very real possibility.

Other recognizable faces also still in the fray include Toto Leonidas, Prahlad Friedman, James Mackey and former WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic champion, Eugene Katchalov.

Day 4 of the World Poker Tour Legends of Poker main event is set to begin today (8/25/09) at 3:00p.m. PT.  For updates, photos and live, from-the-floor interviews featuring PokerRoad's Amanda Leatherman visit www.worldpokertour.com.
