The World Poker Tour Slovakia Main Event, the first WPT event ever to be held in Central and Eastern Europe, begins today (8/31/09) at the Herna Golden VEGAS Casino in Bratislava.

This EUR4,000 + 400 Deep Stack tournament is expected to attract quite a few top pros including Gus Hansen, according to the official site for the event- www.wptslovakia.com, and will feature 60 minute levels (switching to 90 minute after day one) and blinds that start at 25/50.

Although the tournament is an official WPT event, it will most likely not be a part of the WPT's regular US television programming.  The event will more likely only be seen regionally, perhaps in conjunction with their local partner the Slovak Poker Sport Federation.
