Poker Hall Of Fame Inductee List Reduced Again
September 10, 2021

A process that began early this summer as an open invitation for poker fans to nominate individuals for the Poker Hall Of Fame is now almost complete, with only nine players left still in the running.

The final list of nine will now be submitted to a 30-person voting group that includes 15 poker media specialists and 15 living Hall of Fame members, to decide which if any of these poker legends will be inducted into the Hall in November.

The final nine still in consideration include:

BARRY GREENSTEIN
DAN HARRINGTON
PHIL IVEY
TOM McEVOY
MEN NGUYEN
SCOTTY NGUYEN
DANIEL NEGREANU
ERIK SEIDEL
MIKE SEXTON

This revised list is very similar to the one announced at the end of this year's World Series of Poker, with the notable absence of Tom "durrrr" Dwan, who was removed from consideration by the POH Governing Council, when it was decided he had not yet achieved all that's expected of a member of the Poker Hall of Fame.

"With all due respect to Mr. Dwan, one of the games most exciting young players, he does not currently meet the criteria for Hall of Fame selection.  We wish him well and expect he will again be considered once he has 'stood the test of time.'"  -Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council

Besides having to stand the test of time, the final nominees must also be proven to have "played for high stakes," "played against acknowledged top competition," gained the "respect of peers," and/or "contributed to the overall growth and success of the game of poker, with indelible positive and lasting results."

Voting on the final nine members will now begin again this week and will conclude with one-to-three new members being inducted into the Hall of Fame during a special dinner ceremony, to take place during the dinner break of the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table.
