There were three big events during Friday's session of the PokerStars World Championship Of Online Poker, but quickly all the news focused on just one and its well known and oft feared new champion.

PokerStars Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, took one for the team yesterday when he earned the top spot in Event #38, a $530 buy-in No-Limit Hold 'em tournament which allowed for 1 rebuy and 1 add-on.

ElkY's key event, attracted enough runners to surpass its million dollar guarantee by nearly $370,000 (all three of yesterday's events easily beat their posted guarantees), creating a $1,369,000 total prize pool and the biggest first prize of the day- which ElkY got all of, as no deal was struck at the final table.  Along with his 2009 WCOOP bracelet, Bertrand earned a top prize worth $232,730.00.

If not for ElkY, many of the day's headlines would most likely have focused on another well known big Friday winner, Terrance Chan, who took down the Fixed-Limit Hold 'em 6-Max event, just as he did last April during the PokerStars SCOOP series (Chan actually not only won the fixed limit 6-max main SCOOP event, but the smaller buy-in one as well which took place on the same day).  For this new win Chan earned a little over $80,000.
