The Europeans Win Inaugural Caesars Cup
September 25, 2021

The first ever Caesars Cup, pitting Europe's top players against some of the poker kings of the Americas, played out today, with the young Europeans thoroughly dominating the more seasoned pros from America and Canada.

Team Europe, captained by Annette Obrestad and featuring some of the best young internet pros from Scandinavia, Italy and Scotland including Dario Minieri, Patrik Antonius, Bertrand Grospellier, Gus Hansen, Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, Peter Eastgate and Betfair sponsor qualifier John Harvey, demolished Team Americas four to one in a best of seven, heads-up and teams match.

The trouncing, despite not being for money, still had to hurt the world class egos involved on Team Americas, a team captained by Daniel Negreanu and featuring Phil Hellmuth, Barry Greenstein, Doyle Brunson, Phil Ivey, Huck Seed, John Juanda and Jennifer Harman.

After Today's disappointing results, there is little doubt Team Americas will work even harder next year to bring the Caesars Cup to America.
