Phil Laak Closes Out The PartyPoker World Open V
October 16, 2021

Phil "the Unabomber" Laak, having outlasted a highly impressive final table, took down the fifth installment of the Party Poker World Open, earning $250,000 while creating what's sure to be TV gold.

Laak, having won his preliminary table which held such top players as Praz Bansi and J.P. Kelly, found himself in the final facing off against even bigger names including Andy Black, Luke "FullFlush" Schwartz, Jennifer Tilly and recent Poker Hall of Fame inductee Mike Sexton, who actually received the announcement he had earned entry into the prestigious Hall while sitting at the final table.

Despite that fortunate news, Sexton was unable to parlay his luck and was eliminated in sixth place outlasting only Andy Black, the first player to bust.  Following Sexton to the rail was Laak's main squeeze Jennifer Tilly, Bodo Sbrzesny, Luke Schwartz and online qualifier Jan Veit, who came ridiculously close to winning it all despite facing a 48-person starting field full of top online and live pros.
