Watt Shines Brightly At APPT Auckland

New Zealand's own Simon Watt, a software developer and PokerStars online qualifier, took down the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Auckland main event yesterday, earning a top prize worth NZD $209,000 (about $156,000 American).

Watt outlasted a total field of 263 players to earn this, his first major tournament win, including such pros as Tony Hachem, Grant Levy, Eric Assadourian and local hero Lee "Final Table" Nelson.

The final table finish positions for the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Auckland main event were as follows:

1st.  Simon Watt- NZD $209,085

2nd.  Gerome Guitteau- NZD $142,020

3rd.  Jason Brown- NZD $82,845

4th.  Ke Sijia- NZD $55,230

5th.  Richard Lancaster- NZD $42,606

6th. Jens Walther- NZD $31,560

7th.  Assadour Assadourian- NZD $23,670

8th.  Lance Climo- NZD $18,936

9th.  Michael Shinzaki- NZD $14,202
