Vedes Victorious At Festa Al Lago
October 27, 2021

Tommy Vedes, fresh from numerous recent deep cashes in major events ranging from the European Poker Tour London (54th) to the World Series of Poker Main Event (18th), finally claimed his first major tournament victory yesterday at the World Poker Tour Festa al Lago Championship.

Vedes earned $1,218,225 for outlasting the entire Festa al Lago 275 person field, enough to triple his total career winnings up to this date.

Although Vedes had clearly battled many tough opponents in the past, one would have to think yesterday's final table must have been one of the biggest challenges of his professional career, entering the final six third in chips behind such tough competitors as Shawn Cunix and multiple WSOP bracelet winner Kassem "Freddy" Deeb.

Freddy, despite starting the final table first in chips, was unable to close out the event thanks in part to a serious cooler against Vedes- getting it all-in with Kings vs. Queens pre-flop, only to have Vedes river a set and double up, leaving Freddy the short stack out of four.

Soon after that hand, Freddy was unfortunately eliminated and forced to content himself with the fourth place prize worth $278,300.

The final table finish positions for the 2009 WPT Festa al Lago at the Bellagio were as follows:

1st.  Tommy Vedes- $1,218,225

2nd.  Jason Lavallee- $795,150

3rd.  Craig Crivello- $477,090

4th.  Freddy Deeb- $278,300

5th.  Jason Burt- $208,725

6th.  Shawn Cunix- $168,970
