Palms Penalized For Other Peoples Poorly Run Poker Tournaments
November 12, 2021

The Palms Casino, according to a recent article from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, will be dishing out $100,000 in fines due to two tournaments put together through outside organizers, that according to the Nevada Gaming Commission were not properly overseen.

$75,000 of the $100K will go toward the fines assessed, with $25,000 for the long term investigation which has taken place since the tournaments were run in late 2007.

The Palms had also previously paid $450,416 out to players of one of the two tournaments- organized by the United States Poker League- whose checks reportedly bounced after they cashed.

Though both events were again organized by outside parties, Nevada's Gaming Control Board still felt the penalty was justified as the Palm's lack of "adequate planning and follow-up," potentially harmed Nevada's overall gaming industry.
