Vive L'European Poker Tour; Day 1A In Deauville
January 20, 2022

Today's Day 1a at the Deauville stop on the PokerStars European Poker Tour, attracted 339- EUR5,000 paying- players.  This French stop last year saw 645 players altogether, and as Day 1b can usually be counted on to best the Day 1a numbers, it appears to be almost certain that this year's event will be even bigger still.

Among those 330 some first flight players, sat a respectable amount of notable pros including Andrew Chen, Katja Thater, Antoine Saout, Arnaud Mattern and Canada's Mike "Timex" McDonald

"Timex," as well as all the other above listed players, survived the difficult day, however about 141 players did not, leaving Day 1a with less than 200 entries by the time all the stacks were being counted.

The current leader of those 198 surviving players, according to updates to be found on the PokerStars blog (, is a Romanian player by the name of Robert Cezarescu, who by the end of play lead the field with 216,900 in tournament chips.

Day 1b of the EPT Deauville, begins tomorrow at noon, local French time.
