Manchester Players Unite, To Crown Newest UKIPT Champ
February 15, 2022

The first season of the new PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) is continuing to show growth, with the most recent Manchester main event attracting 518 players.  The previous Galway event, the inaugural event on the tour, attracted barely more than half that amount, however due to its larger buy-in, does still hold the record for the tour's biggest prize pool thus far (EUR471,400).

The still healthy ?259,000 total prize pool for the Manchester main event, was created thanks to a buy-in of ?550 each, and was distributed amongst 72 players with the biggest bit going to a 21 year-old college student, with no previous live cashes on record above $10,000.

That player, Joeri Zandvliet, earned ?63,200 (or about $99,000 USD) for outlasting the rest of the Manchester field, a field that contained not only tourney pro Julian Thew, but also John Duthie, Vicky Coren and recent EPT Deauville winner Jake Cody.

Of all those pros, Vicky lasted longest, finally cashing in 25th place for ?1650.

The final table finish positions for the UKIPT Manchester main event were as follows:

1st.  Joeri Zandvliet- ?63,200

2nd.  Jack Ellwood- ?37,500

3rd.  Mike Hill- ?23,500

4th.  Tony Millan- ?15,100

5th.  Dean Lyall- ?12,100

6th.  Chris Brammer- ?9100

7th.  Dan Owston- ?6500

8th.  Tim Brown- ?4800

9th.  Julian Hasse- ?3650
