Bellagio Abandons The All Rebuy Plan For The Five Star World Poker Classic
April 1, 2022
The Bellagio’s controversial (to say the least) plan, to have every event leading up to this year’s World Poker Tour World Championship be a $1,000 buy-in, multiple rebuy tournament, has apparently been altered according to a recent article at

The original all rebuy plan had created quite the stir in the poker community as of late, becoming common conversational fodder on numerous PokerRoad- and other- podcasts, and even encouraging talks of boycott by many highly vocal players.  Yet despite all the seemingly negative publicity fueled by the posted schedule, Tournament Director Jack McClelland repeatedly insisted on keeping with the plan, until that is the first of the Bellagio preliminary events, which reportedly attracted less than 30 players and under 40 rebuys in total.

In response to this early lack of success, the powers that be at the Bellagio have apparently finally decided to alter course and though the new preliminary schedule is still more rebuy heavy than most, it now does contain at least 10 non-rebuy tournaments, for those itching for a little more variety.
