Could Rio Sale Mean New WSOP Hollywood Home?
April 27, 2022
News of Harrah’s Entertainment Incorporated's recent decision to seek offers for their Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino property in Las Vegas, has many contemplating the future of the World Series of Poker; not its future existence, but its probable future location and where exactly it could land among Harrah’s large fleet of Vegas properties.

The Rio, the current home of the WSOP, is Harrah’s largest Vegas property with 1,100 slot machines, 90 gaming tables and 117,300 square feet of usable casino gambling space, according to a recent article from BuisnessWeek.com, making it currently the ideal location for poker’s biggest tournament series.  If the Rio sells- reportedly for more than $500 million- few of Harrah’s established casinos would be able to adequately replace it, however many analysts seem to believe their newly acquired Planet Hollywood location may just perfectly fit the bill, relocating the Series to the heart of the Vegas Strip, while at the same time promoting the new property for Harrah’s, as they attempt to bring Planet Hollywood and themselves out of the red.

The 2010 World Series of Poker starts this May at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, for more information visit www.wsop.com.
