Amazing Mizzi Deep Again But Dropped By Deeb At WPT Paris High Roller
May 17, 2022
Sorel Mizzi, the 2010 Borgata Spring Poker Open Champion and PokerStars 2010 SCOOP Event #32 (high) champion, amazingly made yet another final table at the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris High Roller event, his eleventh brick-and-mortar final table of 2010.

Mizzi, now at or near the top of virtually every Player of the Year race, claimed the title in four of those 10 events and almost claimed this one as well, coming up just short in second place to poker legend Freddy Deeb

With two WSOP bracelets and two previous WPT titles to his credit, winning is of course nothing new to Deeb either, though clearly this victory worth €290,000 (nearly $360,000 USD), must feel particularly good for this old school pro.  Deeb entered this final table second in chips to Mizzi, and at different points during the 8-person final table had less than half of Mizzi's chips, yet Freddy still managed to somehow find a way to do what very few have been able to in 2010- survive playing in a tournament that holds Sorel Mizzi.

The payout positions for the 2010 WPT Grand Prix de Paris, €20,000 buy-in, High Roller event were as follows:

1st.  Freddy Deeb- €290,000

2nd.  Sorel Mizzi- €120,000

3rd.  Roger Hairabedian- €40,000

4th.  Gianni Giaroni - €25,262
