Joran Van Der Sloot Apprehended in Chili
June 3, 2022
Joran van der Sloot, professional poker pro and lead suspect in the 2005 Natalee Holloway disappearance case in Aruba, was arrested today near Vina del Mar in Chile, in connection with the recent murder of Stephany Flores, a 21-year-old Peruvian women who he reportedly met while taking part in the Lima, Peru, stop of the PokerStars Latin American Poker Tour.

According to reports by CNN, Flores’ bludgeoned body was found Sunday in a hotel room (#309) registered to Van der Sloot at the Hotel Tac, in Lima.  There is reportedly not only video evidence of Flores and Van der Sloot together the night before Flores was found dead, but also eye witness accounts of the two entering the hotel together Sunday morning- exactly five years to the day that Natalee Holloway went missing.

Van der Sloot, after an international alert, was apprehended in a taxi reportedly en route to Vina del Mar, and now faces possible extradition back to Peru, as well as newly filed extortion charges in the US relating to the previous Holloway case.

With few live tournament results to his credit, Van der Sloot has to be considered primarily an online player, reportedly playing under the handles “AAOTILTKK” and “Joran888,” according to unconfirmed reports from gambling news site Gambling911.
