The 411 On The 41st (WSOP): Boyd, Baker And Barch Bag Bracelets
June 14, 2021
In the question as to whether this year’s World Series of Poker is thus far favoring the pros or the amateurs, three more events seem to be tipping the balance towards the pros. WSOP Events #19, #20 and #23 were all recently taken down by established, American, professional players, each earning over $200,000 to go along with their shiny new bracelets.

Event #19, the $10,000 buy-in Deuce-to-Seven Draw Lowball World Championship, was taken down by young poker pro David Baker, who survived one of the toughest WSOP final tables of the year.  The 101 person event, featured a final table that held not only Erik Seidel but also John Juanda, Eric Kesselman and even Daniel Negreanu- that is at least if you define the final table as the last table in play (8th- $26,004).

Event #20, a $1,500 buy-in Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, saw 885 players take to the felt before finally concluding with John “Tex” Barch grabbing the prize.  Barch, a WSOP Main Event final tablist in 2005, earned $256,919 for the victory, after successfully outlasting such tough competition as Matt “All in at 420” Stout (51st- $4,647), Quinn Do (32nd- $6,630), Nick Binger (16th- $9,856), Christian Harder (11th- $15,197) and Nenad Medic, who made the top five (4th- $74,946).

Event #23- recently completed early this morning (6/14)- was a $2,500 buy-in, Limit Hold ‘em six-max tournament that attracted 384 entrants.   The event was taken down by Dutch Boyd, known not only for his previous WSOP bracelet win in 2006 but also for being prominently featured on ESPN during past WSOP coverage.  Other known players to cash in this event included Justin Bonomo (32nd- $5,202), Michael Binger (22nd- $7,675), Rafe Furst (16th- $9,635) and J.J. Liu, who made it nearly all the way to the final table before busting in 7th place overall for $21,991.
