The Commerce Casino high value experiment known simply as the Guaranteed Million Dollar Tournament, came to an end yesterday after nearly a week, when the final six entrants of a total 3,300- some the same ones from different starting days- agreed to a chop of the largest chunks of the total prize pool.

That total prize pool turned out to be exactly $1,000,000, as 3,300 registrations- and repeat registrations from the other 5 starting days- was still not quite enough to match the posted guarantee, forcing Commerce Casino to provide a $59,500 overlay for the players.

The winner of the event was Richard Bakovic of San Pedro, California, who “officially” earned $173,500 for the first place, though the six-way chop made the actual number closer to $110,000 according to tournament tweets provided by Tournament Director extraordinaire Matt Savage (@SavagePoker). 

The other six players to split the top places with Bakovic included Aaron Kweskin, Phong Nguyen, Ramzi Srour, Derek Gomez and Nathan Che- all of whom also hail from California.
