EPT Vilamoura: The Numbers
August 30, 2021
The second event of the PokerStars European Poker Tour Seventh Season, the Vilamoura main event, started strong over the weekend with 384 players signing up to play.

This showing, the largest ever for a poker tournament in Portugal, created a total prize pool of €1,862,400- about $2,360,000 USD- thanks to a healthy buy-in of €5,300.

Some of the players that competed during the two starting Day Ones included David Williams, Barney Boatman, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Dario Minieri, Annette Obrestad, Carlos Mortensen, Casey Kastle, Vicki Coren and Daniel Negreanu, who was unfortuantely eliminated before the end of Day 1 play.

Unlike Negreanu and 162 others, 221 players survived their starting days in Vilamoura including such highly watchable pros as Sorel Mizzi, Luca Pagano, Arnaud Mattern, Antonio Esfandiari, J.P. Kelly and Brandon Cantu, who as of this writing is currently a Day 2 chip leader, as that day's play has already begun.
