EPT Barcelona: The Numbers

The PokerStars European Poker Tour Barcelona main event, with the conclusion of its second starting day, has proved once again why its the predominant poker tour in Europe, with a huge initial field of star caliber players.

758 players in total entered the €5,300 buy-in main event, enough to create a total prize pool worth €3,790,000- or more than $5 million US.  That prize pool will award one player, out of the 112 that will cash, a top prize worth €825,000, which equals to about $1.1 million when converted into American currency.

Day 1a and 1b of the EPT Barcelona main event saw the elimination of 353 of those initial players, leaving 405 to compete on Day 2.  Some of the notable pros still a part of that competing group include Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Michael Binger, Carlos Mortensen, Johnny Lodden, Liv Boeree, Casey Kastle and Marcel Luske.
