UKIPT Galway Pushed Till Friday
December 1, 2021
The start of the PokerStars UK & Ireland Poker Tour Galway main event, originally scheduled to begin Thursday at Galway’s Radisson Hotel, has been pushed back to Friday due to incessantly bad weather, thus increasing the event’s odds at besting last year’s inaugural numbers.

The weather in Galway, currently predicted to be snowy and in the low 30’s all week, has apparently successfully shut down much of this western Ireland bay side town, as it has many of the airports in the region as well, making this move a necessity despite the event's set schedule that’s been on the books for some time.

Last year’s €2,000 buy-in, Galway main event, attracted 259 players and featured a total prize pool of €471,400.  The event was won by Irish legend Padraig Parkinson, who earned €125,000 for the victory.

This year’s event buy-in is substantially cheaper at €1,100, and will hopefully attract even more players, as the three-day event is now set to start at noon on Friday.
