Karamalikis Claims APPT Sydney Top Prize

Austrailia’s own Jonathan Karamalikis, a professional poker player known online as “xMonsterxDongx,” claimed the top spot this weekend at the PokerStars Asia Pacific Poker Tour Sydney main event, earning a grand prize of AU$459,510- or about $458,000 USD.

Karamalikis, outlasted a total field of 289 players to earn what is so far the largest live cash of his tournament career, including a final table that held not only Roland de Wolfe and previous APPT champion Eddy Sabat, but also Daniel Negreanu, who went out in a somewhat disappointing ninth place overall.

The final table finish positions for the 2010 APPT Sydney main event were as follows:

3rd.  Tom Rafferty- AU$164,730

4th.  Peco Stojanovski- AU$121,380

5th.  Antoine Amourette- AU$97,970

7th.  Manuel Hansimikali- AU$65,025

8th.  Roland de Wolfe- AU$50,285

9th.  Daniel Negreanu- AU$36,415
