The World Poker Tour Southern Poker Championship, which started with 214 players, is now down to only 66, after two full of days of Hold ‘em that saw many world class competitors step up to the challenge of true competition, only to be knocked out with little to show for their efforts besides a negative $10,000 charge on their ATM slips.

Top players like Eric “basebaldy” Baldwin, Steve Sung, Kara Scott and Scotty Nguyen, all found themselves on the outside looking in by the end of the wild Day 2- despite their obvious skill sets- however luckily a few other top pros were somehow able to find a way to survive it.

Some of the big name pros still in the hunt heading into Day 3 include Gavin Smith, Lee Markholt, Chad Brown, Shannon Shorr, Jonathan Little and last year’s Southern Poker Championship winner Hoyt Corkins.

66 players in total survived to see today’s start of Day 3, which is still 39 players to go before anyone can grab even a small portion of the over $2,000,000 total prize pool waiting for the players at the end of today.
