They’re down to six players at the 2011 World Poker Tour Southern Poker Championship in Biloxi Mississippi, and what was originally looking like a potential Hughes blowout, is now looking more like a two horse race.

Professional players Alexander Kuzmin and Allen Carter, both stand on the precipice of greatness as today’s (1/27) final table begins, each with close to 2,000,000 in tournament chips. The other four players at the final table, have all yet to pass the million chip threshold, making it look like the two Al’s event to either win or lose.

Ryan Hughes, yesterday’s chip leader with 19 to go, is also still in the hunt, as is Leif Force, Patrick Mahoney and Shannon Shorr, but it will be Allen Carter- who won this event just two years prior- that most will be watching as the final table begins at 4pm Central Time today, to see if he can become the WPT’s first ever same event repeat champion.

The chip counts heading into the final table of the 2011 WPT Southern Poker Championship are as follows:

Alexander Kuzmin- 1,969,000

Allen Carter- 1,928,000

Ryan Hughes- 840,000

Leif Force- 674,000

Shannon Shorr- 663,000

Pat Mahoney- 394,000
