2011 Bay 101 Shooting Star: Day 2
March 17, 2022
The nearly 15 hour death march that was Day 2 of the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star, came to a conclusion just a little before 1am this morning, with only 24 players still in contention for a top prize valued at over $1 million.

Day 2 in total saw 146 players fall out of contention at the Bay 101 in San Jose, and only about 21 of them were able to claim any portion of the original $3,697,500 total prize pool.

Some of the notables eliminated during Day 2 included PokerRoad’s Gavin Smith, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Dwyte Pilgrim, Phil Hellmuth, Todd Brunson and Layne Flack, the tournament’s money bubble boy.  Don’t feel too bad for a Layne though, after collecting three $5,000 bounties, he’s up for the week- at least as far as this tournament goes.

Some of the recognizable pros still in the hunt, and now guaranteed at least $25,800 include Mike Sexton, Dan Smith, Mike Matusow, Kathy Liebert and Vivek Rajkumar, fresh off a runner-up finish earlier this month at the LA Poker Classic, and now in the top three here with 24 to go.
