Sternberg And Steven Stop Mikey From Millions At Bay 101
March 21, 2022
When the World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Star main event final table began Friday, the big stories at it were Mike Sexton, Mike Matusow, and back-to-back WPT final tablist Vivek “FLOG” Rajkumar.  However, as is often the case in the unpredictable world of big buy-in tournament poker, by the end of the day the headlines had all changed topics, and it was barely before noticed satellite qualifier Alan Sternberg getting most of the press.

New York’s Sternberg, outlasted a total field of 415 players to claim the Bay 101 Shooting Star title, the $25,000 entry into the end of season WPT championship, and the first prize worth over a million dollars, along the way surpassing many pros and personally eliminating the final shooting star of the event Mike Matusow.

Matusow, lasted substantially longer than both Sexton and Vivek, but was still ultimately unable to get past third place overall, earning the successful Full Tilt pro basically another $370,000.  With this finish, Matusow now has close to $8 million in live tournament cashes.

The final table finish positions for the 2011 Bay 101 Shooting Star main event were as follows:

1st:  Alan Sternberg- $1,039,000

2nd:  Steven Kelly- $595,300

3rd:  Mike Matusow - $369,800

4th:  Vivek Rajkumar- $295,800

5th:  Casey McCarrel- $221,800

6th:  Mike Sexton- $148,000
