53 of Europe's top female poker players gathered recently to compete in the Ladbrokes European Ladies Championship. This televised event had a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000, with a first place prize of $30,000. Despite pro players like Victoria Coren and Annette "Annette_15" Obrestad competing for that prize, the event was won by a relative new comer, Absolute Poker's Olivia "Liv" Boeree.

This spunky 23-year-old should make for a great addition to the international poker scene. Not only has she recently cashed in numerous events showing she's no flash in the pan, but she also has a truly unique character that the poker world is sure to embrace. Along with playing poker, Liv is also a trained astrophysicist, a serious heavy metal guitar player, and the new UK spokesman for Absolute poker.
