Another $500 Grand Raised For Africa
May 19, 2022
Annie Duke and Don Cheadle have done it again. After successfully hosting last year's inaugural 'Ante up for Africa' poker tournament, a charity event which raised significant money for Darfur relief, the two teamed up once again two throw a second event to raise even more. This time the 'Ante up for Africa' event was held at the San Manuel Casino outside of Los Angeles, and thanks in part to a generous contribution from that casino, the event raised $500,000 to help the refugees of that very troubled region.

Many stars came out to support this worthy cause including the West Wing's Josh Malina, LA Dodger James Loney, Sex and the City's Willie Garson, and "Anthrax" guitarist Scott Ian. Among the notable celebrities were numerous big name poker pros as well like Phil Laak, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, and of course Annie's brother Howard Lederer.

'Ante up for Africa' has already raised well over $1,000,000 for Darfur relief and the founders have no plans of stopping there. The next event will once again be held during the World Series of Poker on July 2nd, right before the start of the Main Event. The event is expected to be packed full of stars again and should be a great opportunity for you to show your support. It's never too late to ante up for a good cause.
