WASSUP '08: Gomes Gains $770,540

Brazilian Alexandre Gomes won Event #48, a $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em tournament, yesterday, beating out an international final table that included Russian Kirill Gerasimov, Norway's Sverre Sundbo, and numerous Americans including Marco Johnson and Gabe Costner. tGomes took down a first prize worth $770,540 and his first ever World Series Of Poker bracelet.

Event #48 had 2,317 entrants, which created a prize pool worth over $4,216,940. The second biggest cut of that prize pool went to Marco Johnson, who finally went down after running his Jack-Queen of Spades into Gomes' Big Slick. For the second, Johnson earned the biggest cash of his career, $491,273.

The final table finish positions for Event #48, $2,000 No-Limit Hold'em, were as follows:
