WASSUP '08: The $50,000 H.O.R.S.E, It's All Over Baby!
June 30, 2021
World Series Of Poker Main Event Champion Scotty Nguyen has just won the $50,000 H.O.R.S.E Event. Scotty beat out a World class final table that included Lyle Berman, Matt Glantz, Huck Seed, Michael DeMichele, Erick Lindgren, and PokerRoad's own Barry Greenstein to secure a first prize worth $1,989,120 along with the Chip Reese Memorial Trophy and his fifth WSOP bracelet.

Greenstein came in sixth for $355,200, which at the time was good enough to earn him the top spot in the Milwaukee's Best Light Player of the year race. Greenstein held that distinction for a good five hours until Erick Lindgren, despite a hard fought battle, went out in third for $781,440, vaulting him past Greenstein and the previous leader Jacobo Fernandez with an impressive 245 POY points.

With the elimination of Lindgren, only 22 year-old Michael DeMichele stood between Scotty Nguyen and the glory of winning "The pro's championship." Despite DeMichele's undeniable talent, he had already gone further than anyone could have guessed against such an amazing field of seasoned pros. No one seemed more aware of this then DeMichele himself, who was all smiles throughout much of the final table, and was still smiling even after the 314th hand was dealt and Scotty Nguyen was declared champion. DeMichele left the final table a millionaire, earning himself $1,243,200.
