WASSUP '08: Hellmuth Holds The Lead
July 1, 2021
Day 2 of Event #51, the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E event started yesterday with Phil Hellmuth at the very top of the leader board, despite an amazing starting field of 803 players. By the end of Day 2, Hellmuth was still there, sitting with 287,500 in chips and only 20 people away from what could be his 12th World Series Of Poker bracelet.

The second day of Event #51, saw many of poker's best and brightest eventually hit the rail including, John Juanda, David Benyamine, Thor Hansen, Mike Matusow, Allen Cunningham, and former World Series Of Poker Main Event Champion Joe Hachem. Of that group, Hachem lasted longest, almost making it to Day 3 but busting just short, early this morning in 24th place.

Hellmuth has never won a WSOP bracelet in a non hold'em event - an interesting bit of trivia that makes for a glaring hole in his otherwise superb WSOP record. This is a hole that Hellmuth would certainly like to fill, but can Phil fill it? Will he run wire to wire in the H.O.R.S.E? These pun-y questions need answers, so expect a big crowd today, when Day 3 of Event #51 reconvenes at 3PM PDT, in the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino.
