Problem Gambling Experts Argue For Online Poker Legalization
July 25, 2021
Associate Professors Kathryn LaTour (University of Nevada Las Vegas) and June Cotte (University of Western Ontario) are publishing a paper that argues one solution to the internet gambling problem may be ending the ban on it. This surprising solution became apparent to the two professors when they realized that legalizing online gambling was a necessary step to get sites to better regulate and discourage problem gamblers. After significant research, the two discovered that banning internet gambling only served to push sites underground and offshore.

This paper entitled, "Blackjack in the Kitchen: Understanding Online Versus Casino Gambling," is due to be published next February and should only help in the online poker industry's ongoing fight for legitimacy.
