Day 1a At The APPT
September 2, 2021
The second major Macau poker tournament in the last two weeks began over Labor Day weekend, with 125 gamers signing up for the first Day 1 of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Main Event. Day 1a had many big name players competing for a chance at an APPT title, including Harry Demetriou, John Juanda, Mike "timex" McDonald, Liz Lieu, and PokerRoad's Barry Greenstein.

The day wasn't kind to Greenstein as his set of treys ran into a rivered higher set, and he was out very early in the day. 78 other players followed Barry to explore the city of Macau by the end of the day, including Jonny Vincent, Liz Lieu, and 2007 APPT Grand Final champion Grant Levy.

In all, 46 players survived the day and will now wait for the Day 1b survivors to meet them for Day 2. Just a few of the big names expected to play in Day 1b include Johnny Chan, Chad Brown, Vanessa Rousso, and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
