Heads-up poker tournaments are always exciting and full of action, but the $25,000+500 buy-in heads-up event during the Pokerstars 2008 World Championship of Online Poker seemed to surpass even the loftiest expectations. 64 players chose to compete in Event #19, many of whom were well-known pros including Tom Dwan, Gavin Griffin, Victor Ramdin, Dario Minieri, Vanessa Rousso, and co-host of PokerRoad's All Strategy's podcast Daniel Negreanu.

Of the 64 starting players, only eight could make the money, with one claiming a first place prize of $560,000. That prize eventually went to Steven "stevesbets" Jacobs, who was able to defeat Team PokerStars member, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, after a difficult final match to earn the official WCOOP title.
