Dogs Playing Poker Pony Up For A Cause
October 7, 2021
Some hate them and think they're tacky, while others love them or appreciate the kitsch, but no matter what you think about the famous "Dogs Playing Poker" series of paintings by C.M. Coolidge, from now on you'll have to admit the world is a better place with them in it (even if the bulldog does seem to encourage cheating).

According to a recent press release, thanks in large part to money made from those famous poker playing dogs, the trust of Marcella B. Coolidge (daughter of C.M. Coolidge), was recently able to donate more than $500,000 to the UC San Diego. The funds are earmarked for the University Extension's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, which encourages mature adults to never stop the quest for knowledge.

So the next time your spouse tries to get you to throw out that gaudy dog painting in the game room you can tell 'em, "no way, I'm doing my part for society."
