Negreanomo Tops The Field At Festa
October 23, 2021
PokerRoad CEO Joe Sebok must have been loving life by the end of Day 2 at the World Poker Tour Festa Al Lago. Not only did he personally finish the day with enough chips for 7th place overall (327,000), but the two pros he recently secured to host his site's new tournament strategy podcast "All Strategy," Daniel Negreanu (513,100) and Justin Bonomo (383,300), ended the day in first and third place over an intensely stacked field of poker's elite. If anyone needed proof that "All Strategy" should be mandatory listening for tournament players of all levels, they certainly got it yesterday in Vegas.

Of course as my old philosophy professor Dr. Brummer use to say, "you can't have mountains without valleys" and rest assured, as good of a day as Sebok had, someone else's was just as bad and unfortunately for Antonio Esfandiari - yesterday he was that someone. Esfandiari started Day 2 with a huge chip lead that no one else was even close to (313,000) and ended the day on the rail in stunned disbelief (0). The poker gods, it seems, can be petty and cruel, and yesterday Esfandiari proved once again that no matter how many chips you have, you are never truly safe in the chaotic world of tournament poker. Quite a few others shared Esfandiari's final fate during Day 2 including Adam Junglen, Blair Hinkle, Brian Rast, Allen "The Chainsaw" Kessler, David Benyamine, Gus Hansen, Kathy Liebert, Erick Lindgren and Chris "Jesus" Ferguson.

Day 3 of the Festa Al Lago will begin again at noon, at which time 104 top players will sit down for what is turning out to be a riveting WPT event. Just a short list of those still in the hunt for the money includes Jennifer Tilly (330,800), Barry Greenstein (35,400), Brad Booth (280,000), Bill Edler (34,900), Johnny Chan (94,200), Mike Matusow (184,900), Allen Cunningham (187,500), Nenad Medic (345,600), JC Tran (337,900) and "The Godfather" Doyle "Texas Dolly" Brunson (266,400).
