Ivey Grows All Over Foxwoods
November 7, 2021
To the chagrin of all 412 players that plopped down $10,000 for a chance to win the World Poker Tour Foxwoods World Poker Finals, Poker legend Phil Ivey not only decided to play Day 1b but decided to dominate it, ending the day as the Day 1b chip leader and in a virtual tie with Day 1a chip leader Jason Potter.

Ivey with chips is a dangerous thing, but particularly so in World Poker Tour events, where he has unique the distinction of making it into the final ten of every WPT event that he's ever cashed in (and he's cashed in nine of them). However that's not to say this thing is over; numerous other top pros survived the challenging Day 1b including Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Jason Mercier, Freddy Deeb, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow, Men Nguyen, Ted Forrest, Carlos Mortensen, David Williams, and PokerRoad's Anna Wroblewski, Allen "Chainsaw" Kessler, Amit Makhija, Daniel Negreanu and of course "The Caveman" Gavin Smith.

With such a stellar lineup still on the felt, it would be easy to assume that all the top pros that played Day 1b survived it, but sadly that is not the case. A short list of Day 1b victims includes John Juanda, Matt Matros, John D'Agostino, Nenad Medic, Vanessa Selbst, Miami John Cernuto, Jimmy Fricke, Howard Lederer, John Hennigan, David Singer, Chau Giang and Andy Bloch.

Day 2 of the Foxwoods World Poker Finals will begin today, with 250 survivors attempting to sneak up on Ivey and club him when he's not looking (proverbially speaking).
