The PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Manilla Main Event began yesterday, with 149 players entering the tournament on the opening day. Amazingly, the fast and furious Day 1a already saw all but 38 of those players sent to the rail.

Day 1b is expected to attract just as many, if not more entrants, which means last year's 255 player record for this event may just be in jeopardy. The buy-in for the Manilla, Philippines Main Event is listed as 100,000 PHP (or about $2,300 USD).

Those with bigger bankrolls may also be interested to note that this year's Manilla stop will feature a High Roller Tournament with a $5,102 buy-in. Both the High Roller event and the APPT Main Event are being held at the Hyatt Hotel & Casino Manilla.
