With much of the poker world currently focused on Sydney for the APPT Grand Finals, it would be easy to forget that there is another important Australian poker tournament just around the bend, the 2009 Aussie Millions Poker Championship (1/9/9-1/26/9).

The Aussie Millions Poker Championship, in its short history, has quickly become one of the most beloved and highly anticipated tournaments on the poker calendar. It is not uncommon for the winner of the the event to earn millions of dollars as well as the respect that's garnered by taking down the kind of tournament that routinely attracts the absolute cream of the international poker crop.

This year's newly released Aussie Millions schedule shows 18 events in a variety of games and levels including an $1,100 buy-in Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event; a $10,200 buy-in two day H.O.R.S.E. event; a $3,250 (plus rebuys) Pot Limit Omaha event; and a NL Hold 'em true high roller event with a $100,500 buy-in. The Main Event of the Millions begins on January 18th, has a $10,500 buy-in, and last year attracted 780 players.
