APPT Day 2 The Bubble Bursts
December 5, 2021
It was a long day in Sydney during the Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final (brought to you by as 217 anxious people slowly played down to 48.

The day began with numerous big name pros sitting in the beautiful Star City Casino, yet most were not destined to end it there. A short list of casualties on Day 2 would have to include John Juanda, Carter Gill, Tony Dunst, Mark Vos, Lee Nelson, Chris Moneymaker, and Gavin Griffin (despite his starting the day with one of the top three chip stacks).

It was a brutal day to be sure and one that less than 50 people would be happy with. Notable players still in that group include Eric Assadourian, Jason Gray, Jamie Pickering, and world class Australian jockey Shane Dye.

Of those players, it appears Pickering is in the best spot to run for the AUD $1,000,000 first prize sitting just behind chip leader Frank Saffioti with 572,500 in tournament chips. However, there's still lots of poker left to play, and if today's carnage taught us anything, it's nobody is safe until the last hand has been dealt.
