Poker Prizewinner in Prague; EPT Crowns Champion

The European Poker Tour Prague Main Event wrapped up over the weekend and in the process claimed their first ever Italian champion.   

Salvatore Bonavena took down the 570 player, multi-day event and won an impressive first prize of €774,000 (about 1,000,000 American).  Second place went to Massimo Di Cicco, a fellow Italian, who earned €445,000.   

Three of the top five finishers at the EPT Prague final table came from Italy, a country whose current poker boom could soon change the dynamics of final tables everywhere and can already claim such top players as Dario Alioto, Luca Pagano, Dario Minieri and Max Pescatori. 

The Final Table finish positions for the 2008 EPT Prague Main Event were as follows: 

1st.  Salvatore Bonavena- €774,000

2nd.  Massimo Di Cicco -- €445,000

3rd.  Andrew Alan Chen -- €257,000

4th.  Konstantinos Aleiou- €199,000

5th.  Francesco Cirianni -- €166,000  

6th.  Fredrik Nygard -- €130,000

7th.  Nasr El Nasr -- €99,500

8th.  Raul Mestre -- €71,800
