Bahamas Day 1B
January 7, 2022

Day 1b of the European Poker Tour, PokerStars Caribbean Adventure saw another 687 players sit down to compete. By surpassing Day 1a’s starting numbers, along with nearly everyone’s expectations for the tournament, organizers of the PCA were amazingly able to announce a combined starting field of 1,347 players and an impressive total prize pool of $12,674,000.  Such a pool will guarantee at least three millionaires will be sitting at the final table of the PCA, with the eventual winner receiving a monstrous $3,000,000 first prize.

Some Day 1b players still in the hunt for a piece of that pie include, Carlos Mortensen, Brandon Adams, Peter Eastgate, Kathy Liebert, Mark Seif, Katja Thater, Humberto Brenes and PokerRoad’s Shane “shaniac” Schleger, who ended his day at 146,900 in tournament chips.  Day 1b players sadly out include Phil Ivey, Chris Moneymaker, Isabelle Mercier, Ivan Demidov, Boris Becker, Jean-Robert Bellande, Gus Hansen, PokerRoad’s Joe Sebok, and last year’s PCA champion Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier.

With both day one heats completed, only 398 players remain and exactly half of those are guaranteed to earn a portion of that massive prize pool once the bubble pops (most likely sometime today).  For up to the minute action on what has without question become one of the biggest live poker tournaments of the year, check out PokerRoad’s live streaming EPT coverage or visit PokerStarsBlog.com for chip counts, photos and an excellent live tournament blog.
