Long Day Ahead At Borgata
January 29, 2022

The final day of play has arrived for the 2009 Borgata Winter Poker Open and with it 27 players remain to fight for first.  This large number of players for a final tournament day, continues a trend during this event of surprisingly large fields on each day, thanks primarily to an unexpectedly impressive starting group of 1,017 players.

Yesterday’s Day 3 began with 175 people including well known players like Gordon Eng, “Captain” Tom Franklin,  Jason Young, Tony “Bagels,” David Peters and Bill Edler.

Remarkably all those players, with the exception of “Bagels,” were able to cash when the bubble finally popped at 100 players, but only “The Stunning One” was actually able to survive the difficult day.

The seemingly hungry Edler, more than just survived Day 3, he flourished during it, ending the day with the second largest stack in the field.

With few players left in the room with Edler’s reputation, it’s safe to say all eyes will now be on him, as they cautiously play down to the $658,405 first prize.
