Borgata WPO Results
January 30, 2022

The final day of the 2009 Borgata Winter Poker Open Main Event concluded yesterday, after only about twelve hours of play, even with an unusual starting field of 27 players as opposed to the more traditional eight or nine.

The day began with a relatively unknown group of players with a few notable exceptions like Andrew Barta, Todd Terry and perhaps the most well known, Bill Edler; who started the day 2nd in chips with his eyes firmly set on the more than half million dollar top prize.

Unfortunately for Edler, it turned out January 29th just wasn’t going to be his day, and despite his impressive play throughout the rest of the event and a large starting stack, he was forced to settle for a less-than-stunning 17th place overall.

Andrew Barta didn’t fair much better (15th); however, Todd Terry really made a run for it and ended up heads-up for the title before finally succumbing to the new WPO champion.  It was Steve Weinstein that eventually knocked out Terry, along with countless others en route to his first major tournament victory and a first prize of $658,405.

The final ten finish positions for the $3,200 buy-in, 2009 Borgata Winter Poker Open were as follows:

1st.  Steve Weinstein- $658,405

2nd.  Todd Terry- $434,767

3rd.  Robert ‘Anthony” Merulla- $236,452

4th.  Robert ‘Jeremy’ McLaughlin- $205,942

5th.  Michael Contessa- $175,432

6th.  Franklin Caldwell- $144,922

7th.  Ory Hen- $114,412

8th.  Carl Pion- $83,902

9th.  Charles Marchese- $61,020

10th.  Shawn Paul Pilot- $39,663
